- Encouraging research and providing a forum for disseminating that research among members and to the wider Christian and academic communities.
- Creating a context where evangelical perspectives on issues facing the African church and society are addressed.

- Raising funds to finance the activities and events of the ASET
- Publishing the findings of research in books and journals
- Contacting other societies that is in accordance with this constitution and the Societies Act in the Laws of Kenya as may be stipulated in the society’s by-laws.

Executive Committee
ASET is led by an Executive Committee which consists of all the office bearers of the society and two other members appointed by the office bearers from among the membership of the standing committees and they will be responsible for the management of the society, and for that purpose may give direction to the office bearers as to the manner in which, within the law, they shall perform their duties. The new office is made up of:

- Vice-Treasurer Prof. Stephen Muoki, Pwani University
The Standing Committees include the Program and Arrangements Committee, the Publications and Communications Committee and the Membership Committee. Serving members in these standing committees include Prof. Elizabeth Mburu, Prof. David Ngaruiya, Prof. Nathan Chiroma, Rev. Dr. Titus Kibaara, Dr. Edith Kayeli, Dr. Victor Lonu, Dr. Abeanezer Urga, Rev. Neema Mollel, Nyambura Kamau, Joshua Barron, Pamela Rita, Rev. Jacob Kipchillis, and Danson Ottawa, among others.
